Holy Ghost Baptism Talk

Update May 2015:  Hello Friends!  Thanks for visiting my blog and your interest in this Holy Ghost talk.  I've had this talk up for almost 5 years and it's still my most visited blog post- thanks!  I've been offering the pdf for free, which was fine when I got 2-3 email requests a week, but lately it's been like 80 requests a week and I can barely keep up!  To help make up for my time, I'm going to start selling the pdf file for $1.50.  Feel free to use my idea or make your own traffic light, but if you would like my 4 page pdf file, jump to my Etsy shop to buy the instant download.  Thanks!!

I serve in the children's primary organization at church, and I created this talk for baptisms. I always end up speaking at several baptisms a year, and I've loved using this concept.

The Holy Ghost is like a traffic light, it gives us signals to listen and obey.  Sometimes the Holy Ghost gives us a red (or stop) message, a green light to go, or a yellow light to be careful and slow down.

And for Missy - who had the great idea of her children coloring in the red, yellow and green circles on the bookmarks. Great idea Missy!!

  4. Great idea! Can I make one request? Could you add a black & white version of the second graphic? I'd like to have the kids color their own traffic lights, if you're able to post a B&W version. Love it!

  14. I used this for my sharing time on Sunday and asked 3 Primary teachers in Sr. and 3 in Jr. in advance to share an experience related to a time when they were either prompted to repent (Stop), warned of danger (yellow), or taught (green) by the Holy Ghost. It was a great idea and the kids all were very quiet. The Spirit was very strong. I had the kids in Jr. Primary color the traffic light bookmark. For the kids in Sr. Primary, I copied and laminated the one already done so that they could have it as a bookmark. Thanks for posting this and making it so easy to use! Stephanie

  16. Thank you for sharing your wonderful idea. I used the traffic light for my niece's baptism a couple of weeks ago, and everyone loved it. I did the same lesson for FHE the next week, and even my three year old understood it. Thank you for making my life easier! You are a very talented person. :)

  17. I love this idea! This may be a silly question, but I am wondering how you velcroed on the colors to the traffic light without covering up the words, or if you even had words written on yours or just had them tell you what they were. Thanks

  43. Look and u will see listen and u will hear ask and u shall receive these words have more meaning than u know.Want to know if the spirit is with u just ask with your mind just as if you were asking a ? In your thoughts John said I'd rather speak 5 words in mind than 10,000 in tounge.Just for fun give this a try stand up put your feet together and just with thought ask the spirit if he can hear you.The answer comes as a very soft movement ever so slight. Would like to know what you think about it.

  51. Camille,
I hope you will reconsider selling something that has been widely distributed for the Kingdom for Primary Baptisms for FREE from the Church. It would be a valuable service to keep the idea going for not just LDS baptisms, but for any faith that centers it's faith around our Lord Jesus Christ.
